Where Will My Information Go?

Your PrivacyIf you agree to join the registry, your information will be collected by your doctor and entered into the CNDR through a secure webpage. When the CNDR receives your information, all your personal information is separated from your medical information. Your medical information is given a number. This number helps to keep your identity secret. Your personal information is never given out.

A list will keep track of your personal information and the secret number assigned to you. Only your doctor and CNDR staff will have access to this list. Only your doctor and the CNDR staff will be able to see your personal and medical information together.

How Will My Information Be Kept Private?

Your information will be stored on a secure computer at the University of Calgary. The computer will be accessed over the Internet. Your information will be secured by coding it. This is known as encryption. The security system used for the CNDR is very like what your bank uses if you do online banking. All provincial and national guidelines have been met.

How Long Will My Information Be Stored?

Your information will be kept for an unlimited amount of time. You are free to withdraw at any time.

If at any time you should choose to withdraw from the registry you will have the option to have all of your stored data erased.
