Statistical Data Requests
These are requests for data from the CNDR where the data is being used for government purposes or to assess feasibility prior to beginning a trial or study. Statistical Data requests should not be made where research ethics approval has been obtained or is in process. All data requests where ethics approval is current or will be obtained must be submitted through the CNDR Research Proposal Submission process.
The granularity of this data must not allow inadvertent identification of any individual patient. Data release in response to this type of request may include the following:
- Information on distribution of patients in Canada by location, by disease, or by inclusion/exclusion criteria.
- Information on actual or potential clinical trial sites based on distribution of patients by disease or inclusion/exclusion criteria.
- General epidemiological statistics on disease type, inclusion/exclusion criteria, or location.
NOTE: The CNDR reserves the right to release data at a less specific granularity than that requested to ensure protection of patient identity. Where the total number of patients present in any one criteria is less than 5, the patients will not be identified by clinic or region. If numbers are sufficiently small, the CNDR may quote data divided into Western Canada (BC, AB, SK, NWT, YK, Nunavut) or Eastern Canada (MB, ON, PQ, NS, NB, NL, PEI) if appropriate.
All Statistical Data requests should be sent to the CNDR Project Manager.
Submission Timelines
Statistical Data Requests are reviewed by the CNDR Advisory Committee (CNDRAC) and are returned in 4 - 6 weeks from the date of the request.
